Roar on the Serengeti: 10-day vacation in Tanzania
Day 1: En Route
Depart from home; en route to Arusha, Tanzania.
Day 2: Arusha
Today we arrive in Arusha, Tanzania where we are escorted to Onsea House, a relaxing layover en route to Singita Grumeti Reserve.
Onsea House (dinner)
Day 3: Arusha/Singita Grumeti Reserve
We transfer east to Singita Grumeti Reserve, an enormous concession situated adjacent to Serengeti National Park in the Serengeti Ecosystem. This 340,000-acre reserve is privately owned, which means that we have this wild stretch of Africa all to ourselves. Upon arrival our safari guides escort us to Singita's lavish Sabora Tented Camp. That afternoon we set off on our first exciting safari!

Day 4 & 5: Singita Grumeti Reserve
Over the next two days we explore this region on safari. The Singita Grumeti Reserve is situated on the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park. Except for a line on a map, The Singita Grumeti Reserve is part of the Serengeti Ecosystem, boasting all the same environments, animals, etc as Serengeti National Park proper, without any separation by fence or border. This region is extra special, though, because it is not regulated by National Park Authorities, which means that national park rules are not in effect. Thus we have the freedom to drive off-road, embark on bush walks, enjoy sundowners and lengthy picnics in remote locations, and set off on exciting night safaris. Moreover, since this is a private reserve, it is not open to other camps and visitors from surrounding regions - it is exclusively reserved for Singita guests.

Day 6: Singita Grumeti Reserve
Today make the one-hour drive to Singita's uber-luxurious Sasakwa Lodge, which is also located in the Singita Grumeti Reserve. The lodge is built in the style of an Edwardian manor house with stone walls, deep verandas, high ceilings, stately furniture, silverware, and ornamental pieces. Each of Sasakwa’s nine cottages has a private heated infinity-edge pool overlooking the surrounding African wilderness, where the land seems to stretch forever. This is certainly one of Africa's most opulent safari lodges.

Day 7: Singita Grumeti Reserve
We spend today on safari. When we are not on safari, we can choose from a number of other activities and services including archery, lawn croquet, stargazing, mountain biking, tennis, and spa facilities. In addition, Singita’s Equestrian Center is home to sixteen horses. Here experienced riders can enjoy horse rides on the Serengeti Plains. Tack is English style and guests have the choice of English or Western saddles.

Day 8: Singita Grumeti Reserve
Today we wake up early for a truly memorable event - a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti! Here we watch the sun rise gloriously over the horizon and marvel as herds of animals pass beneath us. In a word, spectacular!
